Duchy Originals Organic English Ale

The brand of this ale sounds dirty almost but it's really just organic goodness. There's something about the water I'm going to say with these organic brews, they always have this crisp taste to it not found in non-organic brews it seems. I don't have any proof of this, but all the organic ales, pale ales, and the like all have this similarity to them. This is a good English ale to try, I like the weight of it and it is not overly carbonated. I can taste some bit of citrus with a really pleasant sweet aftertaste.

These types of brews are pretty hard to come by without really searching specialty shops for. I'm sure overseas where they are local, they probably come in cans or smaller bottles. It's hard to commit to those giant bottles without knowing what awaits inside. I've gone and dumped a few bottles right down the drain after taking a sip, a gulp, followed by another sip to realize acquiring a taste for it would not be much fun. For the most part, I've gotten some good ones without too much hesitation, I'd easy count this as a good buy.

Green's Dubbel Dark Ale

I fell for the organic paper bowtie of a label on this beer and did have high hopes of it tasting pretty good. I could tell by the smell of it, I wasn't going to be happy. The sour definitely stood out and combine it with the bitters of a dark ale, it's not a winning combination. I couldn't drink the whole thing, it went straight down the drain to beer heaven. Ever since I was a kid, I used to always rationalize things and why they existed and would come to the conclusion, someone(s) out there must like this stuff, that's why factories keep making it! I'm instantly seeing a giant popcorn flavored jellybean and wondering why it still exists. As an adult, I realize that it is pretty much true, someone must be buying this stuff up. I just haven't met those people yet.

Peak Organic Pale Ale

I like pale ales, they're usually lighter ales with a bit of a lager taste to them. What's not to like? I've never tried a Peak brew of any sort before and I was obviously drawn to it because it's labeled as organic. I actually didn't like the taste of this one, it had a bit of a sour aftertaste that I never really liked in any brew. The good is the weight balance of the brew, it wasn't water thin and didn't taste bitter, either. Luckily, I bought a single and didn't have to slowly drink them before they went stale. Since I like to buy up singles of things, I often forget that I've tried them. I managed to pick up a six pack of these for my folks to try and drank another before realizing I already tried this and did not like it. I didn't like it the second time around, either.

Pinkus Organic Pilsner

I saw the words "organic" and "pilsner" together and I knew it was something I had to try. All the organic brews I've tried have been refreshing and good. When I mean refreshing, I don't mean cheap lager to wash down pizza with, I'm talking about the that unsweetened ice tea in the middle of summer feeling. For a beer with a name like this, it looked a bit cloudy and tasted more tart than I'd expect of a pilsner. There must have been some of that lemon and orange zest in this, which made me not like it as much as I could have. I was really looking for a more clean lightly carbonated beer with a bit of sweetness without the zest.

Sidenote: The label reminds me of Coney Island for some reason, the red, blue, and the lettering.

Wychwood Scarecrow Golden Pale Ale

I had to pick this one up just by the label, it just looks like it came out of an American comic book page. I think I may have picked it up when the Batman movie was still running and was probably drawn to it by the name Scarecrow. I haven't tried enough pale ales to really have an opinion on them. There is an organic label on this one, which made it appealing because organic brews aren't very common and I'd like to try enough to know the difference. This beer is lightly carbonated and tasted very good, crisp and sweet. Maybe it's the brewery or the organic factor, but this is a very good one and definitely worth trying.
